Breast cancer risk models are becoming more important as we move into the era of risk based screening.  We are providing this forum for people to ask and answer questions about breast cancer risk models in order to help clinicians better understand when and how to use models.

Ask any question about models.  Many questions have already been answered.  For those not yet answered, we expect that we or another participant in this forum will be able to provide the answer.

Models in breast cancer risk, like models in any field, are attempts to quantify reality and are never perfect.  I think this was best summed up by Box, who said:

“All models are wrong, but some are useful”.

-George E. P. Box (statistician)
